Corrections Policy

AREWA News corrects errors of fact promptly, openly and in a way readers can see. We do not quietly delete or rewrite published material to hide a mistake.

Reporting an error

Email corrections@arewa.com.ng with the headline, the URL, and the specific claim you believe is wrong. Supporting evidence helps us move faster. We acknowledge every report within two working days.

How we handle corrections

  • Correction — a factual error. We fix the text and add a dated note at the foot of the article stating what was wrong and what it now says.
  • Clarification — the article was accurate but open to being misread. We add wording and a dated note explaining the change.
  • Update — new information has emerged since publication. We add it with a timestamp; the original reporting stands.
  • Retraction — the central claim of the article does not hold. We retract it, explain why at the top of the page, and leave the retraction notice permanently in place.

What we do not remove

We do not take down accurate published journalism on request. Requests citing legal or safety grounds are reviewed individually by a senior editor.
